Currently, the Southington Linear Trail is 4.1 miles in length. It runs from the Cheshire/Southington town line north to Hart Street (Southington).

The Southington "Rails to Trails" pathway is part of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. When completed, the trail will span over 80 continuous miles from the campus of Yale University in New Haven, CT up to Northampton, MA. There is currently a 4.7 mile gap in Cheshire, as well as a 9.1 mile gap from northern Southington through Plainville into southern Farmington.
