Southington Town Hall 75 Main Street Southington, CT 06489
Welcome to the Southington Tax Office! The collecting of taxes is both historic and statutory and steeped with legal traditions and precedents. While the office operates under the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut in conjunction with the Office of Policy & Management, it also has a very contemporary business dimension with respect to operational policies and procedures, equipment, personnel, forms, collection techniques and public relations.
The 2010 Grand List bills will be mailed by the end of June. These bills are due on July 1, 2011. There is a 30 day grace period so August 1, 2011 is the last day to pay before interest begins to accrue. The Town of Southington does not remail bills for the second installments. If you purchased property after October 2010 and do not escrow with a bank but do not have an original real estate bill, please contact our office. Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or interest. Interest will begin to accrue if payments are not received or US postal postmarked by August 1, 2011. Avoid long lines - pay by mail - send your payment to:
Southington Tax Collector PO Box 579 Southington, CT 06489
Your canceled check will be your receipt. If a receipt is desired, send the entire bill and a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your payment. We have a drop box located in the hallway, right outside the Tax Office. Please take advantage of that option as the box is checked daily.
If you have an escrow account and the real estate tax bill was sent to you, please forward the bill to your bank. If you own property in town and do not escrow with a bank or mortgage company and did not receive a tax bill, or need any information, please call our office. Failure to have received a bill does not exempt the taxpayer from taxes or interest charges.
For those who need assistance with required payments, we welcome the opportunity to discuss payment arrangements with you. Please come in or call.
