The Southington Recreation Department is sponsoring beginner level dog obedience classes to be taught by skilled instructors from Stay N Play Pets. There are no residency requirements to participate.

Classes will be held at Stay N Play Pets, 420 North Main Street, Southington.

Participants will receive instructions in obedience training including sit, stay, come, heel, and other commands. Bring your dog, a training collar, and a 6-foot lead to class.

NOTE: This program is not suitable for dogs who exhibit aggressive behaviors towards people or other dogs; dogs with issues of incessant barking are also prohibited. Dogs attending these classes must be able to withstand an hour in a group setting with other dogs and their owners in close proximity.

Beginner Level

• Open to dogs ages 16 weeks (4 months) & older
• Registration Fee: $205.00 per dog
• Thursdays: September 28; October 5, 12, 19, 26; November 2, 9
• 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
• The first class (September 28) is for owners only; no dogs, please.

Registration Information

Registration is at maximum capacity. The wait list is now closed.

• Registration Fee = $205.00 per dog for the 7-week program
• Registration forms/waivers are REQUIRED and will be accepted online, by mail, or in person at the Recreation Department office located within the Southington Senior Center at 388 Pleasant Street.
• Space is extremely limited. It is highly recommended to utilize the online registration form in order to instantly secure your space in the program.
• A credit card payment is NOT required in order to utilize the online registration form. You may sign up online and then submit a cash or check payment to the Recreation Department at a later date.
• Forms and payments are due by 4:30 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023.
